FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 16, 2011 – Vancouver, BC – The Whistler Spirit Run, set for September 24th at Whistler Olympic Park is pleased to announce that SierraSil have agreed to expand their sponsorship agreement for the 2011 event. For the first time ever, SierraSil will be awarding the prize money to both the “Open and Masters” category (40+) race in the following increments for both top female and male athletes.
1st Prize - $ 400.00 / 2nd Prize - $200.00 / 3rd Prize - $75.00
If an individual places in the top 3 of both the “Open and Masters” category, they could “double up” - their prize money and potentially win up to $ 800.00! In addition, SierraSil, will provide individual prize packages of 90 capsule bottles of “Joint Formula 14”

The Whistler Spirit Run, part of the Vancouver Sun Run Series and Lower Mainland Cross Country Series, is a Cross Country and Trail running event featuring something for everyone at Whistler Olympic Park. It is the realization of the late coach Frank Reynolds’ vision to have a mass participation cross country event while encouraging and supporting British Columbia high school and University athletes through charitable donations and scholarship programs.
“The best part of offering substantial prize money for the “Open and Masters” section is that we’ll be able to reward some of the most competitive runners and give them an added incentive to compete at the highest level in this beautiful location”, said Peter Diemer, from the organizing group of The Whistler Spirit Run.”
Since the first Whistler Spirit Run three years ago, the event has attracted people of all ages and built strong relationships. This year’s version will consist of cross country events of various distances for school and club teams, a fun 4x2KM team relay and individual competitive races where substantial prize money will be offered. The Whistler Spirit Run is part of the Lower Mainland Cross Country Series, where runners have the opportunity to collect points towards the overall series.
